Every year in September, our communities around the world throw big birthday bashes to celebrate InterNations growing one year older. And this year was no different!
The Brussels Community had a Happy 18th Anniversary with an Armenian Touch celebration on 2 September. The event featured traditional dancers from the Ambassador’s home country, Armenia — as you can see in the photo, members even got to join in on the fun!
What’s a birthday without a delicious cake? On 4 September, the Tashkent Community had an unforgettable 18th Anniversary Celebration at the highest bar in the city.
The Berlin Community hosted its InterNations’ Sweet 18 Birthday Bash on 13 September. Members raised a glass to 18 years of bringing international people together while dancing the night away in one of the city’s most iconic clubs.
What makes InterNations events so great? Why, spending an evening with international friends while learning about different cultures, of course. In São Paulo, members celebrated InterNations 18th Anniversary + Brazilian Independence on 6 September. Attendees got to learn all about Brazilian culture and enjoy tasty boteco food too.
In Prague, members came together for a BIG 18th Anniversary Party on 5 September. The elegant location, live band, and fun charity raffle made this an evening to remember.
Cupcakes, anyone? Members in Shanghai enjoyed exquisite cocktails and celebratory cupcakes at the 18th Anniversary Cocktail event on 13 September. Together they raised a glass to many more years of friendship and networking.
And let’s not forget our online events: the Living Room Social: 18 Years Strong brought people from across the globe together to celebrate 18 years of connecting global minds.
But don’t worry … in case you haven’t made it to an anniversary event yet, there are plenty more to come this month. Here are just a few:
The Melbourne Community is throwing a BIG 18th Anniversary Party on 20 September. Highlights include a cake, live DJ, and vibrant global flair.
On 26 September, the Houston Community will hold their 18th Birthday Bash Celebration. The party will take place at an upscale venue with a Speakeasy concept — so dress to impress!
A day later, the Tokyo Community will also be celebrating their 18th Anniversary Event. It promises to be a memorable evening full of cake, games, and prizes.
Our 18th anniversary isn’t the only thing to celebrate this month! Our members get together for smaller activities every day — from sightseeing day trips to opera in the park and everything in between.
In New York City, members of the Experiential Group met on 5 September for a Carmen Al Fresco to watch the famous opera in Bryant Park. They enjoyed an evening of culture while picnicking on the lawn.
On 6 September, members of the Bucharest Community Group went on a Day Trip to Busteni. They enjoyed a visit to the peaceful Caraiman Monastery and the elegant Cantacuzino Castle while taking in the panoramic mountain views.
What better way to start the day than with a scenic bike ride followed by brunch with friends — new and old? Members of the Mexico City Polanco Social Group met on 7 September for Polanco, Brunch & Bicycles.
On 13 September, members of the Wiesbaden-Mainz Arts & Culture Group went on a Day Trip to Heidelberg. There they toured the iconic Heidelberg Castle followed by the Kurpfälzisches Museum. A great time was had by all!
Also on 13 September, members of the Toronto Changemakers Group got together for the Rowntree Mills Park Tree Planting. They spent the morning planting native trees and shrubs to enhance the tree canopy, with an aim to increase the area’s biodiversity.
And still to come: on 26 September, members of the Dar es Salaam Community Group will meet to enjoy a Taste of Africa event. They will sample traditional foods from all 55 African countries at an event that supports small-scale businesses and promotes clean energy sources.
